IoT Pro External Wiring

What you’ll need

  • 1 mm drill bit (if an additional hole for a cable gland needs to be made)

  • 12 mm drill bit (if an additional hole for a cable gland needs to be made)

  • 19 mm deep hex socket (if an additional cable gland needs to be installed)

Cable gland options

The IoT Pro caters for six cable gland locations depending on the user’s requirements

  • The different cable gland locations are shown below:

Adding a cable gland to your device after delivery

Two cable gland sizes are available to accommodate different wire thicknesses: 5-6 mm and 7-8 mm

Ensure that no wires are near the drilling location when drilling holes into your device

  1. Identify the desired cable gland location.

    1. The different cable gland drilling locations are identified as shown below:

    2. The drilling locations for the cable glands can also be identified by the following features on the inside of the housing:

  2. Open the device as explained in Opening and Closing

  3. Remove all boards inside your device to prevent any damage from occurring during drilling, refer to IoT Pro Assemble and Disassemble Boards

  4. Use a 1 mm drill bit to drill a pilot hole at the end of the feature (as shown by the red marks above)

  5. Use a 12 mm drill bit to widen the pilot hole to the correct size

  6. Remove any plastic burrs with a deburring tool from the hole to ensure that a tight seal is created

  7. Install the cable gland as follows:

    1. Position the lock nut inside the device

    2. Install the cable gland body with the washer as shown, and tighten with the 19 mm deep hex socket to 1±0.05 Nm with a calibrated torque wrench

    3. Install the cable gland nut and proceed with wiring your device

  8. Re-install the main board, GPIO board and battery or DC Power board (refer to IoT Pro Assemble and Disassemble Boards)

  9. Close the device as explained in Opening and Closing
