Diesel Tank Management - Wireless Barcode Scanner Setup
The IoT Pro Diesel Tank Management Module is supplied with a wired barcode scanner by default. The guide below walks you through changing the wiring and setting up the wireless barcode scanner for 12VDC, and 24VDC systems.
Before opening the enclosure or modifying any wiring, ensure the main system power is off and take all standard electrical safety precautions.
Removing the Wired Barcode Scanner
Verify the system is off, then open the enclosure
Remove Power Supply: Remove the AC/5VDC power supply (labelled PSR01505) and disconnect the 5V domain wires connected to the DIN terminal blocks
Disconnect Power Wires: Disconnect the wired scanner’s power wires (red and black) from the middle DIN terminals (positions 5 and 6 or last two)
Disconnect Data Wires: Disconnect the data wires (orange and brown) from the Left/Yellow and Left/Green terminals (positions 7 and 8)
Remove Scanner: Loosen the cable gland at the bottom of the enclosure and pull the wired barcode scanner cable out completely
Wireless Barcode Scanner Installation
Mount the wireless barcode scanner base station in a suitable position near the main enclosure.
Connect the RJ50 cable and the 1.0m DC Plug wire (P/N: POSDC-Y-P25S-1.0) to the back of the scanner enclosure.
Pass both cables through the cable glands on the wireless scanner enclosure, then feed them into the main enclosure—ensuring all glands are fully tightened to maintain the enclosure's IP seal
Power Supply Setup
Install the required DIN power supply module based on your main system supply. If you also need to adjust your main power supply configuration, refer to Diesel Tank Management - Power Supply and Relay Setup.

Wiring Connections
Connect the wireless scanner leads to the DIN shorts inside the main enclosure:
Power (12VDC): Connect Red to +12VDC and Black to GND
RS232 RX: Connect Orange (RS232 RX) to Left/Yellow (RS232 TX)
RS232 TX: Connect Brown (RS232 TX) to Left/Green (RS232 RX)
Testing & Verification
Double-check all terminal screw connections, then close and secure the main enclosure door
Restore power to the system
Scan Test:
Step A (Data Communication Check): Scan an invalid or non-IoT Pro QR code.
Expected Result: The main module should emit three long beeps signalling an error. This confirms that the RS232 data lines are wired correctly and actively communicating with the module.
Step B (Normal Operation Check): Scan a valid IoT Pro QR code.
Expected Result: Only the wireless scanner should beep; the main module should remain silent, indicating a successful operational read with no errors.
Note: Keep the wireless barcode scanner enclosure closed and sealed when not in use to protect the unit and ensure the charging dock remains operational.
